A fun selection of breeds that will be coop ready end of May when they reach 12 weeks old
Bielefelders are large beautiful birds and extremely docile. They love to forage but also do well in confinement and are winter hardy. They lay an average of 225-275 large brown eggs a year, or 4-5 a week.
Brahmas are an extra large breed feathered head to toe and dubbed the “king of chickens”. They're super friendly and often become a flock favorite. They require a nice shady spot to help cool them in the summer, but extremely cold hardy and will continue to lay through winter when other breeds have stopped. They lay a medium size cream or brown egg and are expected to lay an average of 150 a year or 2-3 a week.

Cuckoo Marans are beautiful birds that are generally friendly and love to forage. They thrive in a free range setting, but also tolerate confinement. Hens can occasionally go broody and make excellent mothers. Although a cold hardy breed, Marans typically don't lay well through winter. Expect an average of 175 large dark brown or chocolate eggs per year or 3-4 a week.
The Sussex is calm and friendly breed. They are cold hardy and excellent layers of large eggs that can vary from cream to light brown and will lay an average of 250 eggs each year or 4-5 a week.
Olive Eggers are generally calm and friendly birds, easy to handle and winter hardy. They're great foragers but also do well in confinement. They're winter hardy, but tend to slow down laying during the coldest months. Layers of medium to large green eggs but some can lay brown. Expect and average of 200 a year or 4-5 a week. Feather colors will vary.
